The 500$ DM

Happy Sunday Legend!

There is this dude… Derek - The Story Mentor.

He’s one of the first excellent Storytellers I’ve met on Twitter.

Based on his Tweets and Threads you can instantly say he knows his profession.

He’s been into storytelling since 2001 and won several awards.

Last week I said fuck it and tried to DM him, just to come in touch.

Looked for the DM button… nothing there.

So I’ve commented on one of his Threads if he could open his DMs.

We’ve started to talk about storytelling and his career. He immediately asked me what my pain points with storytelling are… so I knew he was into coaching or something.

I answered his question brutally honestly. That I’m a total newbie and where my struggles are.

Okay, why I’m telling you all this?

Cause what happened next was unexpected.

He asked a few more questions and told me that I ask the right ones.

Then this happened:

You’ve seen what happened here?

Just because I’ve said fuck it and reached out to him and started a genuine conversation without any expectation, he gave me a 500$ coaching for free.

You can imagine how I jumped out of my chair as I read that DM.

Can’t wait to start that coaching and share my learnings with you Legend.
